A man has been charged with wounding a woman with a rifle in a street brawl in Melbourne’s east.
Police allege that the man, aged in his 50s, used a rifle to shoot the woman in the chest before fleeing the scene.
The woman was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.
Detectives allege the incident occurred on Sunday, November 27, around 8.20pm at an intersection in North Yarra.
They allege the man used a gun to fire a round at the woman’s car, but she escaped unhurt.
Detective Inspector Steve Gillett said a search of the man’s property turned up the rifle.
“We believe it was fired from the vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of the residence at the time,” he said.
Investigations are continuing to establish the motive for the attack.
